This dwelling is cut sensitively into the mountainous area of Grortnagraige overlooking Mallow. The design maximises the dramatic views at first floor level from the living spaces and the entrance is at the upper level over a bridge like structure. A Curved dry-stone wall forms the entrance façade and a glass link houses the feature staircase. The stone is extracted from the actual site.
The lower level of the house is constructed as a heavy battered stone element tying the dwelling into its rugged context in contrast to the lighter upper level finished with cedar and glass.
