Mallow G.A.A. Sports Complex

Since its official opening in 2008, Mallow GAA sports complex has become the major recreational, sporting and social hub for not only the North Cork area but much further afield.

The Sports Complex is built on a 35 acre site in Carrigoon, Mallow which consists of four sand-based pitches and one all-weather playing pitch. A perimeter walkway surrounds the grounds.

The Sports Complex itself is entered through a large curved limestone feature wall broken by a protruding glazed south facing entrance foyer.  The foyer contains the reception area and curved staircase with a feature glass balustrade. A large glazed viewing area overlooks the all-weather indoor hurling and football arena which the overall building wraps around. The complex also includes internal & external dressing rooms, meeting rooms, Gym, Bar, Function room, Juvenile recreation area.

The design concept for the sports complex was to provide a sustainable contemporary structure with low maintenance and running costs which is achieved with the careful selection of materials and the use of geothermal and solar energy.
